Join historian and the Society’s Archive Coordinator, Tom Warnke on this very special and captivating tour of our main street, Atlantic Avenue.
Atlantic Avenue is a unique and vibrant street with deep historical roots extending from I-95 to the ocean. The thoroughfare retains historical significance with landmarks like the Colony Hotel (1926) and the historic Atlantic Avenue Bridge (1952). The Old School Square and Marina historic districts offer glimpses into the city’s early development, with structures reflecting the 1898-1943 period encompassing the city’s founding, the 1920s Land Boom, and the post-Depression era. Hear the stories behind the landmarks and what the future holds for its preservation.
