Lake Ida: Cookout, bar, music, special Lake Ida history exhibit & more!
Delray’s Lake Ida prehistory dates back 10,000 years, and a U.S. military map from 1841 shows a Seminole camp in the area. The 120-acre Lake Ida was named by pioneer William Linton around 1894, after his wife Ida. The area was once part of the Everglades but underwent significant drainage in the 1920s and 1930s, shrinking the lake to create land for development. The Lake Ida neighborhood grew in the 1950s, evolving from swampland to a family-oriented community with custom homes and recreational activities centered around the lake. The Lake Ida neighborhood is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and remains a popular spot for boating, skiing, and fishing.
Family friendly event. Free to Lake Ida residents only.
